What is NSIC?
NSIC, or the National Small Industries Corporation, is an ISO-certified government organization that enlists Micro & Small Enterprises (MSMEs) under the Single Point Registration scheme (SPRS) to participate in government purchases. NSIC provides MSMEs with access to government contracts, benefits, and discounts. Established by the Government of India in 1955, NSIC’s main objective is to aid, support, and promote the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector in India.
The primary purpose of NSIC is to assist and promote the MSME sector by offering integrated support services in finance, marketing, technology, and other allied services.

How To Register under NSIC
The registration process for NSIC is straightforward and can be completed online. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Step 1. Udyam Registration: Obtain an Udyam Registration Number, which is required for NSIC registration. This can be done through the Udyam Registration portal.
Step 2. Registration in MSME DataBank: Register your business in the MSME DataBank using your Udyam Registration Number and PAN to apply for Single Point Registration.
Step 3. Application for NSIC Registration: Apply for Single Point Registration on the NSIC website. Upload all required forms, annexures, and documents. After submission, the NSIC forwards the application to a zonal branch or sub-branch office for technical inspection and recommendation for NSIC registration.
Step 4. Third-party Inspection: For items stored, a third-party inspection is required. Choose an inspection agency based on their expertise and jurisdiction. Consult the list of Inspecting Agencies for inspection charges.
Step 5. Approval & Issuance of NSIC Certificate: After receiving the inspection report, NSIC approves registration for the MSE unit. The NSIC Registration Certificate will be available online, and a physical copy will be sent by post from the respective NSIC office.
What charges are applicable for NSIC registration?
Here is the fee structure for NSIC registration:

Please note that the registration fee mentioned in the table above is exclusive of the inspection charges levied by the inspecting agency. GST will be applicable extra on the charges. Units located in the North Eastern Region will be given a 20% concession in the registration fee with a cap of ₹1 Lakh for all categories.
Eligibility for NSIC registration
To be eligible for NSIC registration, a business must meet the following criteria:
- It must be a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) with an annual turnover of less than Rs. 100 crore.
- The business entity must be registered with the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and have a minimum net worth of Rs. 25 lakhs.
- MSMEs that have begun commercial production (Startups) but have not completed one year of operation are eligible for Provisional Registration for one year. After one year, MSMEs can apply for complete registration. Note: Provisional registration certificate is valid for one year and issued to MSMEs with a limit of Rs. 5 Lakh.
- Micro & Small Enterprises (MSMEs) having Udyog Adhaar Memorandum (UAM) and possessing their workshop or on lease basis are eligible for registration.
- Any manufacturer or service provider with a valid GST number and meeting the above criteria can apply for NSIC registration online.
- Eligible firms must have commercial and technological advancements to provide services to government agencies like defense, railways, PSUs, and central and state government departments.
- Traders are not eligible for registration under the NSIC schemes.
