What is BEE Registration/Certification?

The Indian Government established the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, in line with the Energy Conservation Act of 2001, to curb energy consumption and expenses in India.

BEE enforces star ratings and labeling for select products, empowering consumers to make energy-efficient decisions. Its objective is to institutionalize energy efficiency initiatives, oversee domestic implementation mechanisms, and spearhead efficiency campaigns across industries.

To attain a Star Rating, indicating the level of energy savings, manufacturers, importers, and traders of electrical appliances must register and comply with BEE-mandated testing and documentation processes for their products.

Who needs a BEE Certificate?

Manufacturers: Manufacturers of end products can register under BEE’s Star Labelling Scheme. However, each manufacturer can only register one product per brand using a single login.

Importers: Indian companies or entities importing products requiring BEE Certification must undergo the BEE registration process. Each importer can register only one product per brand using a single login.

Traders: Domestic traders dealing with products requiring BEE Certification must undergo the BEE registration process. Similar to importers, each trader can register only one product per brand using a single login.
